My New Beauty Routine

When I first moved back home, my face broke out like crazy. Adult acne is a million times worse than teenage acne. Your skin does not react the same way to products. Add in the Internet, the wealth of products and reviews out there – its very frustrating!

Since my usual skin care routine was not working, I went to Sephora and the salesgirl highly recommended the Philosophy Completely Clear Skin System. The two week sample set lasts for about a month and I highly recommend it. However, my face was still getting bad breakdowns and then I finally linked it to using Bare Escentuals – whenever I was using it, I’d break out the next day.

Since I had to find a new foundation, I went back to Sephora again and the salesguy hooked me up with Korres since I wanted something without mineral oils, parabens and sulfates. And I haven’t had any really bad breakouts since, hurray! However, the only thing I dislike is the price and the packaging. I spilled half of it all over the the sink since its in a little glass bottle. I wish it was in a squeezable bottle so I wouldn’t be washing my money down the drain.

I also got the Korres powder since it was $10 with the purchase of foundation and while its a great product, its a packaging fail too. One side of the compact has the powder/mirror and the other side opens to hold the applicator. The thing is huge. Not compact at all and hard to fit into a small purse. Plus, I don’t even use the applicator that comes with it. As one Sephora reviewer put it, its a small quantity of powder in large compact. It goes on a little cakey on my skin, so I probably won’t stick with the powder after I run out.

The good news is since I started using Korres and now I’m going on month three of the Philosophy skin set, my skin is starting to look much, much better these days.  I got the bigger sized Completely Clear Skin System set and it looks like it should last about two months or so.

Now, if I could just win the lottery, I’d buy the Clarisonic brush, but its staying on the wish list for now. Anyone have any new favorite beauty products I should try? I’m looking for a good drugstore moisturizer with SPF, so I’d love to hear your fav bargains!
