I need to add about four hours into my day to get everything I need done. Or just learn how to manage my time better. So glad its the weekend.
Things on my mind lately:
* Taxes. If you are going to move from state to state, I recommend moving on December 31. That way, you do not have to do two state tax returns and deal with headaches. I am thisclose to paying someone to do it all for me, but I am not getting a huge chunk of money back and I’m cheap.
* House hunting. I started looking at apartments and was all like, $600 for a crappy place to live and no one was calling me back, so then I decided it would be much more fun to buy a place. Nope, my money does not get me what I want and I refuse to be house poor. Odds are looking very slim that I am going to find something that I like and can afford before the first-time homebuyer’s credit runs out. I am going to look at more places with my realtor tomorrow. Fun. Some days I feel like I am going to be stuck in my parent’s house forever.
* Meatless eating. Still going strong and have not given in! You try walking into the house and smelling homemade chicken soup and not eating it. I have eaten some fish though. My issue is planning meals and having space for my meals when the fridge is pretty full to begin with. Keep meaning to check some cookbooks out from the library and have not gotten around to that.
* Running. Now that it has stopped snowing all the time and the sidewalks are clear, its time to get back into my A-game. What I am running and what the training schedule says is very different. I have two months to get back into running shape. Very excited about going for a run this weekend that just requires me walking outside, no getting in my car to drive somewhere to run.
* Blogging. Finally brought my new domain name and am getting started on the redesign stuff I need to do behind the scenes. Speaking of blogging, I found out last week that I got a free conference pass by receiving a Bloghership. I must remember to scan my paperwork and send it in this weekend. I have the roommates and hotel taken care of, so thats one thing I don’t need to worry about until August.
That’s why I’ve been pretty low-key lately, I don’t have the brainpower to do anything else. Hoping to catch up this weekend!
Well folks, we are at the end of November finally and the end of NaBloPoMo. I’m surprised I made it, but glad I was able to get into the habit of blogging daily.
Things I learned include:
* I’m not a blog once a day person. I don’t think I’ll post as frequently, but will post more often now that I am in the habit.
* I enjoyed the challenge of finding something to post once a day, but didn’t enjoy throwing together random posts.
* Too often I waited to the 11 p.m. hour to pull something together. I need to get into the habit of writing at different times of day, especially when I’m not tired.
* My interests are all over the place blogging wise and I want to continue blogging about different things, but I’m not sure how to go about doing so in a clear and concise way. Any suggestions?
* Not having a computer makes blogging challenging as does not having access to a digital camera.
* I need to comment more, which I plan on doing more now that I have my own computer. Comments really make my day!
Thank you to everyone that kept coming back and reading my posts. I love the blogging community and I’m glad to be a part of it. If you participated in NaBloPoMo, what did you learn?
Doesn’t the start of a new season seem like a chance to start fresh? So, with the start of October and fall, I wanted to post my goals on the blog for accountability and support. I’ll post how these things are going throughout the month and post a wrap up at the end of the month.
Fitness
* Start running again – I’m running a half-marathon relay with a friend at the end of the month. We’ve already signed up, so there is no backing out.
* Work out 5 days a week. This should be easy with with running and my twice-weekly aerobics class with a local adult education program.
Food
* Try new recipes with fall foods – apples, pears, pumpkin, butternut squash.
Blog
* Update the layout and get moving on changes/ideas that I have in the pipeline.
* Post more!
Career
* Keep applying for jobs and be more proactive in follow-up. Since the G-20 was in Pittsburgh last week, things were kinda slow for a while. Things have picked up again and I am optimistic.
Fun
* Expand my social circle and don’t be afraid to put myself out there.
Well, there they are. Stay tuned. What goals do you have for October?
Yesterday was the Healthy Living Summit here in Boston and it was a wonderful experience. I was a little bit intimidated going in, but I’m glad I signed up and went! I was afraid I’d be the only new blogger there – I’ve been reading some of the girls for a while, but there were lots of new bloggers and people that didn’t blog, but I hope they got motivated to start.
Friday night, things kicked off at the cocktail party at Rustic Kitchen.

Pizza and grilled veggies from Rustic Kitchen
The food was delish and the company even better. Terry, Nina, Amelia, Deirdre and I closed the place down!
The Summit started on Saturday with a great breakfast – yogurt and granola, fruit, and a veggie bagel. The speakers were amazing and I plan to blog about the stuff I learned in the coming days. The swag bags were full of healthy goodies I can’t wait to try.
You know you are with a bunch of bloggers when everyone takes pictures of everything! I really need to learn how to learn how to use the different settings on my camera since the majority of my pictures turned out like crap.
I missed the Saturday night activity, I came home for a quick change of clothes and nap, but slept too long, opps. Between a hectic last week of work and an early wake up call today, I just didn’t have the energy to go out tonight and make the 10 a.m. class at the gym today.
Thanks to Caitlin, Meghann, Kath, Jenna, Tina and Heather for putting on such an awesome event. I met so many women who were so nice, interesting, inspiring and funny. And, I have new blogs to add to my blog roll. The event helped me solidify the “direction” I want to take my blog while making some positive changes in my life and I’m ready to get started! Stay tuned.
