TGIF! I don;t have to work until next week and I hope to finally catch up on my ro-do list, which also includes ordering a new computer finally. Have a good weekend blog friends!

Please Explain

Can someone please explain the obsession with Twilight? What is so appealing about vampires? All my Pittsburgh friends are at the movie premiere right now and I just don’t get it. I read the first book and that was more than enough. Anyone?

And one of my friends who does not get Twilight either posted on Facebook… someone needs to explain to me why anyone would care about the ugly British dude when you could look at that dark-haired hottie with the eight pack?

Insight appreciated!

Shoe Snob

I am a shoe snob. I will only consider wearing certain brands because my feet are picky and hurt in other brands. It kinda makes me sad because I can’t buy shoes from Payless or Target. But, on the other hand, I know these brands will keep me comfortable and the shoes will last longer. Its just the prices that I dislike.

I’m on the hunt for new black boots. I really want a pair of riding boots and a pair of black booties. One problem I have with knee-high boots is that they don’t go over my calves, but I have had luck with the brands below before in fitting over the runner’s calves. Here are the ones I’m drooling over from Zappos:

Now back to work on the finding a job part so I can buy new shoes! Is anyone else the same way about shoe brands or am I just a snob?

Random

On the search for the perfect pair of flat black riding boots AND black heeled booties. This took up most of my Internet time today.

Also, I just discovered this site. Awesome. This also took up lots of Internet time.

The Biggest Loser made me cry! How awesome did they all look? A testament to how amazing the body is.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey are on my new favorite show, Mercy. I don’t know if I should be horrified or excited.

I’m excited for the weekend. and thanksgiving. I don’t have to work the Friday after thanksgiving, yay!

Sorry for the randomness, but I got the NaBloPoMo post in for today just in time!

I Scream For Pumpkin Ice Cream

pumpkin

As a lover of all things pumpkin, I wanted to make a very special announcement to Pittsburghers.

Giant Eagle now has Edy’s pumpkin ice cream. I have been looking for this since September and finally found it! Seriously, I was checking the ice cream case every single time I went to the grocery store. On Saturday, I saw apple pie ice cream and was annoyed – why no pumpkin? Then behold, the shelf below it had the pumpkin!

I had my first bowl yesterday and it was amazing. I am going to be sad when it is all gone and will have to ration the ice cream.  It tastes like pumpkin pie, but without the pumpkin pie texture. I know, I love pumpkin, but not the pie. I want to try this with some graham crackers.

On a second thought, maybe I should I have kept this discovery to myself so I can buy what they have left. But I needed a NaBloPoMo post, so save some for me, okay?

Sunday Rituals

On Sundays, with coffee in hand, I love reading

Modern Love

PostSecret

hanes

(preferably in bed with my laptop and lots of blankets)

Getting a long run in

Watching lots of football

Eating dinner with my dad and lamenting over our football picks (5-5 so far this weekend)

And finishing up the weekend with some drama

My perfect Sunday.

I Heart Miss Dior Cherie

Someone in the blogosphere posted this video and got me started thinking about this, but I forget who. If it was you or you if know who it was, please let me know! After I was reminded about this commercial yesterday, I realized I didn’t unpack it since I’ve moved back and I decided to wear it last night.

Miss Dior Cherie is one of my signature scents thanks to an old roommate who worked at a make-up counter in a high-end department store, she got me my first bottle of this perfume and I’ve been hooked ever since. It is described as “notes of chic, green tangerine, violette, and pink jasmine mingle with soft patchouli, musk, and delectably sweet strawberry leaves and caramelized popcorn for a delicious scent that’s truly irresistible.” I cannot for the life of me smell the caramelized popcorn, but can smell the sweetness. It has strong staying power, but isn’t old lady like. When I wear this I feel young and sexy – just like the carefree girl in the video. How cute are her dresses? Love the balloons and riding on the bicycle part. Anyone want to send me to Europe so I can recreate this video?

(Can’t fail NaBloPoMo, so I’ve resorted to posting about perfume, now accepting post ideas…)

Give & Get Skinny Jeans

Skinny_Jeans

Never thought I would say this, but I just brought my first pair of skinny jeans today. My brown boots are too pretty to hide under jeans and I didn’t own a pair that was skinny enough to go inside the boot. After reading about Gap’s new jeans on countless blogs this summer combined with a 30 percent off coupon for the Gap, well I own this pair now. And they look super cute on my figure, never thought I’d be able to pull it off!

I was also able to score a sweater, cami and headband (with a bow! its cute, really.)  for less than the regular price of the jeans.

And if you want to go on a shopping spree at Banana Republic, Gap or Old Navy this weekend, the company is in the midst of its Give and Get promotion. Here’s a coupon for 30 percent off all items, including sale items. What’s even better is that five percent of your purchase benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, a cause very close to my heart. A win win if you ask me! The coupon is good till Sunday.

Happy Friday!

Get in on the Christmas Crazy

GiveChristmasCrazy

I just saw my first set of holiday lights outside tonight. Its a little early me thinks, but its not too early to start thinking of Christmas. You do know Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away?

As a kid, Christmas was one of my favorite times of year and still is. We have silly traditions in the family that we still keep. Chinese food on Christmas Eve, cinnamon rolls for breakfast on Christmas morning. Open presents at mom’s, open presents at step-dad’s parents house, open presents at grandma’s, open presents at dad’s. There usually is a whole lot of present opening going on for me on the holiday. One of the ugly perks of having divorced parents, but my mom, dad and their spouses still spend the holiday together. Dad and his wife go over to my grandma’s (mom’s side) house for dinner. Mom and her husband usually come to dad’s to watch us open presents there. I’m lucky because I get to spend the holiday with my whole family and I am usually spoiled with presents.

But, what about the families and kids that don’t have presents to open? Pittsburghers (and everyone else who is not in Pittsburgh too), you should go and donate to Christmas Crazy. Michelle at the Burgh Baby is raising money to buy presents for kids that are less fortunate and has already raised over $2,000. You can still help spread the Christmas Crazy during these tough economic times. Donate today.

Decor Wants

With the holidays coming up, I thought I’d post some things I’ve been loving lately from various stores. First up, Urban Outfitters. I’ve never been crazy about their clothes, but love their decor stuff.

Little Birch Jewelry Stand – how cute would this be to hold necklaces and the like?

Mini Branch Wall Hook – this is also catching my eye to hold jewelry and a skinny belt or two. Would love to hide this in a closet – would be a great little surprise.

Our Love By Enormous Champion – I love graphic art and this would look great in my future apartment/house.

Tier Cascade Faux Chandelier – I totally want something like this in a powder room. Its my goal to make one look like a little jewelery box (thanks HGTV!)

Ugh, can’t add images. Need some major sleep, so will try to add them tomorrow!
